Paco Abril is PhD in Information Society and Knowledge by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), he has a degree in Sociology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Currently he teaches sociology at the Faculty of Education and Psychology in Universitat de Girona (UDG).
Since 2000 he has participated in research projects on masculinities (Work Changes Gender; Fostering Caring Masculinities, Fatherhood and Masculinity). His doctoral thesis focused on the study of Spanish parents committed to caring. He has published several articles and book chapters on these topics (the latest: Padres y Madres corresponsables, una utopía real; Couples’ Transitions to Parenthood. Analysing Gender and Work in Europe).
His role as researcher and lecturer in gender and masculinities is combined with their activism in associations of men and equality. Since the year 2009 he is a member of the association Homes Igualitaris- AHIGE Catalunya where he develops projects and gender training targeted men and boys. In this sense he published a book of methodologies for the work of masculinities with youth (Chicos y chicas en relación, ed. Icaria)
